Candy Canes!

Candy Canes!

As Christmas gets closer, candy canes are disappearing from store shelves and being gobbled up by children and adults alike, as well as hung on Christmas trees and passed out to friends and family.

The history of the candy cane helps to remind us of the reason for the season: the birth and life of Jesus Christ. There are many different versions of how the candy cane came about, but my favorite is the story of the choirmaster who made white sugar canes and shaped them like a shepherd's staff to help keep the children quiet through the live nativity celebration at Cologne Cathedral.

The white represents the purity and sinless nature of Christ's life, the red stripes represent the sacrifice He made for humanity, the J shape to represent His name, Jesus, and the peppermint flavoring to represent the ancient herb, hyssop, used for purifying and often referred to in the Bible.

Whatever the legend, let candy canes help to remind you of the true spirit of Christmas and the reason we celebrate this special time of year. Merry Christmas!

Prayer is the key to Heaven,

Prayer is the key to Heaven,
But faith unlocks the door
Words are so easily spoken
Prayer without faith is like a boat without oars
Have faith when you speak to the Master
That's all he asks you for
Prayer is the key to Heaven
But faith unlocks the door.

Dance in the Rain

Dance in the Rain

It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80's arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry.  The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's disease.

As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised, and asked him, "And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?"

He smiled as he patted my hand and said, "She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is."

I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arms, and thought,
"That is the kind of love I want in my life."
"True love is neither physical, nor romantic."
"True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be."

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.

But how to Dance in the Rain!"

Sending Out Greeting Cards for Less!

The other day an acquaintance of my wife send her a “Thank You” card.  Since I sell Greeting Cards and I’m always curious about the cost, I turned the card over to the back. There it was!  She had paid $3.99 plus 44 cent for postage plus car expenses and her time. Now my wife greatly appreciated the card but the lady could have saved $1.44 plus car expenses and time. She could have bought the “Thank You” card from our company and we would have addressed, stamped, stuffed & mailed it for her for less.

To signup as a Retail Customer or to just check us out go to: www.GBGMinistry.com
Thank you in advance for considering us as your Greeting Card supplier.

Have a great day,

IF I KNEW

              IF I KNEW

If I knew this would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew this would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew this would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew this would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew this would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.
There will always be another day
to be in the mood "To love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

So God made a Farmer!

I always liked Paul Harvey and miss him. I liked him because he valued the common folks in our society and celebrated them. Watch it and listen and I think you'll agree. Nothing but the truth here !

When I see my Image in it!

When I see my Image in it!

Malachi 3:3 says: “He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.”

This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God.

One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study.

That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver.

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: “He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver.”

She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time.

The man answered that yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed.

The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, 'How do you know when the silver is fully refined?'

He smiled at her and answered, “Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it.”

If today you are feeling the heat of the fire, remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.

Pass this on right now. This very moment, someone needs to know that God is watching over them.

And, whatever they're going through, they'll be a better person in the end.

“Life is a coin. You can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.”

Thank you God, for teaching me to laugh again but please Lord, don't ever let me forget that I cried.

As a Spiritual Entrepreneur and a Network Marketer

Several years ago when I first started my own business in network marketing and affiliate marketing, I thought the biggest benefit would be the money - so that I could work at home and not go back into the corporate world where I had worked as a paralegal for 20 years.

I was right about that AND I was wrong!

I was right because I did benefit from the money and I have created a full time income from home and actually replaced my husband's income, and I have not gone back to the corporate world, for which I am very grateful. However, I was wrong in that the biggest benefit to me has actually been the personal relationships and the personal development. I have truly become a Spiritual Entrepreneur, allowing Law of Attraction and spiritual principles to attract others who are interested in the products and services I offer.

One important thing I have learned is that what I am doing is not for everyone... and it took me several years to figure that out. Not everyone is going to be interested in what I'm doing - and that is perfect. I am no longer in the convincing business. Now I go about my business day with the intention to attract only those who are already interested in my products and services. Now, instead of trying to talk anyone into liking what I am doing, I am just looking for those people who ARE already interested.

You can do this too - and I promise it is great! Before we can attract the people who are looking for us, we need to decide what type of person we are attracting. What are the characteristics of the people that we want to work with? Are they motivated, qualified, honest, of integrity? Write down on a piece of paper the qualities of your perfect new customers and business partners. Keep that list by your phone and by your computer. Every time you pick up the phone or send an email or place an ad or mail a flyer, you are intending that the people with the qualities you have listed are going to respond to you.

For example, when you make a phone call, have the intention that ONLY those people who are interested will pick up the phone. You don’t really want to talk to people who are not interested, right? Then state this intention… write this down… "It is my Intention to easily and automatically attract to me people who are interested in my products and services, who are motivated and qualified and ready to take action - and who are willing to set forth the effort to create success."

Start your day with 10 minutes or 30 minutes or whatever you feel you have ... for personal development. Spend time reading or listening to something inspirational. When we begin with our own personal development, and we set our intentions to attract people who are already looking for what we have to offer, the results are purely magical!

Remember... Marketing is simply getting yourself in front of as many people as possible in as many creative ways as possible so that those people who are looking for what you have to offer can find you. Notice I said you are looking for people who are already looking for you? Instead of spending your day convincing people, how about you spend your day finding more creative ways to get yourself in front of the people who are already interested.

How does that feel?

Many blessings for your prosperity and well being

Cowboy Poetry

Cowboy Poetry

Jake, the rancher, went one day
To fix a distant fence.
The wind was cold and gusty
And the clouds rolled gray and dense.

As he pounded the last staples in
And gathered tools to go,
The temperature had fallen,
The wind and snow began to blow.

When he finally reached his pickup,
He felt a heavy heart.
>From the sound of that ignition
He knew it wouldn't start.

So Jake did what most of us
Would do if we had been there.
He humbly bowed his balding head
And sent aloft a prayer.

As he turned the key for the last time,
He softly cursed his luck
They found him three days later,
Frozen stiff in that old truck.

Now Jake had been around in life
And done his share of roaming.
But when he saw Heaven, he was shocked --
It looked just like Wyoming !

Of all the saints in Heaven,
His favorite was St. Peter.

So they sat and talked a minute or two,
Or maybe it was three.
Nobody was keeping' score --
In Heaven, time is free.

'I've always heard,' Jake said to Pete,
'that God will answer prayer,
But one time I asked for help,
Well, he just plain wasn't there.'

'Does God answer prayers of some,
And ignore the prayers of others?
That don't seem exactly square --
I know all men are brothers.'

'Or does he randomly reply,
Without good rhyme or reason?
Maybe, it's the time of day,
The weather or the season.'

'Now I ain't trying to act smart,
It's just the way I feel.
And I was wondering', could you tell me --
What the heck's the deal?!'

Peter listened very patiently
And when Jake was done,
There were smiles of recognition,
And he said, 'So, you're the one!!'

That day your truck, it wouldn't start,
And you sent your prayer a flying,
You gave us all a real bad time,
With hundreds of us trying..'

'A thousand angels rushed,
To check the status of your file,
But you know, Jake, we hadn't heard
>From you in quite a long while.'

'And though all prayers are answered,
And God ain't got no quota,
He didn't recognize your voice,
And started a truck in Minnesota '

THE SILENT SERMON

THE SILENT SERMON
A member of a certain church, who previously had been attending services regularly, stopped going. After a few weeks, the pastor decided to visit him.

It was a chilly evening. The pastor found the man at home alone, sitting before a blazing fire. Guessing the reason for his pastor's visit, the man welcomed him, led him to a comfortable chair near the fireplace and waited.

The pastor made himself at home but said nothing. In the grave silence, he contemplated the dance of the flames around the burning logs. After some minutes, the pastor took the fire tongs, carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth all alone then he sat back in his chair, still silent.

The host watched all this in quiet contemplation. As the one lone ember's flame flickered and diminished, there was a momentary glow and then its fire was no more. Soon it was cold and dead.

Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting. The pastor glanced at his watch and realized it was time to leave. He slowly stood up, picked up the cold, dead ember and placed it back in the middle of the fire. Immediately it began to glow, once more with the light and warmth of the burning coals around it.

As the pastor reached the door to leave, his host said with a tear running down his cheek, 'Thank you so much for your visit and especially for the firey sermon. I will be back in church next Sunday'.

We live in a world today, which tries to say too much with too little. Consequently, few listen. Sometimes the best sermons are the ones left unspoken.

The Lord is my Shepherd ----- that's a Relationship!
I shall not want ----- that's Supply!
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures ----that's Rest!
He leadeth me beside the still waters -----that's Refreshment!
He restoreth my soul ----- that's Healing!
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness --that's Guidance
For His name sake ----- that's Purpose!
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death--that's Testing!
I will fear no evil ----- that's Protection!
For Thou art with me ----- that's Faithfulness!
Thy rod and Thy staff comfort me -----that's Discipline!
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies------that's Hope!
Thou annointest my head with oil ----- that's Consecration!
My cup runneth over ----- that's Abundance!
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life----that's Blessing!
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord -----that's Security!
Forever ----- that's Eternity!
